The Use of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) as a Treatment Option for Chronic Pain & Pain in Inflammatory/ Autoimmune Conditions

The seminar examined the specific conditions for which LDN has been shown to be an effective, non-opioid treatment option for patients experiencing moderate to severe pain, including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), fibromyalgia, neuropathies, back pain, and autoimmune diseases. In addition, LDN’s unique ability to control pain in opioid-dependent patients, and assist in the tapering and elimination of opioids, was reviewed. A comprehensive review of the history, pharmacology, and mechanism of action of Low Dose Naltrexone and Ultra Low Doses; well as the clinical experience gained from the treatment of LDN patients; to form the clinical indication-specific dosing guidance and titration protocols which are essential to achieving therapeutic success for patients.

Samyadev Datta, MD

datta.jpgSamyadev Datta, MD, director of the Center for Pain Management, is a Board Certified pain specialist and Board Certified Anesthesiologist. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthesiologists of England. His expertise is grounded in over 30 years of helping patients in pain from all walks of life. His post-doctoral training includes positions in England and at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He completed his fellowship in pain management from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He was on staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Cornell Weill Medical College for many years.

James DeMicco, PharmD

james.jpgJames DeMicco, PharmD is Adjunct Professor at Long Island University College of Pharmacy, and Pharmacist in Charge of J&J Pharmacy in Hackensack, NJ. He has worked in community pharmacy for over 15 years. In 2009 he established a new community pharmacy in Hackensack specializing in pain management and addiction. James has a collaborative practice agreement with an addiction psychiatrist, and provides continuing education programs for pharmacists in conjunction with the NJ Pharmacist Association.
