Dr Harpal Bains has had a varied career in medicine: starting with surgical training within the NHS; to lead doctor with a hostile-region survival training facility with former SAS elites; then moving to London to work as a surgeon with Marie Stopes. This led to further interest and qualifications in sexual and reproductive medicine, a few years practising male sexual dysfunction in Harley Street, and a deep interest in psychosexual medicine, something that she still practices to this day. It was here that she realised the significant impact that hormones could have on her patients as well as the vital importance of developing a continued relationship with her patients and their journey.
She further developed her skills in the US in training with one of the world’s foremost experts in BHRT, Dr Neal Rouzier. Upon the realisation that hormonal problems usually had more deep-rooted underlying causes, and frequently a psychological basis too, a functional approach seemed natural - the foundations of her current private practice were laid. Today she combines her formative surgical knowledge with hormonal, functional, and psychosexual expertise to create a unique and thorough protocol for her patients’ needs at her private practice in the City of London.
