Up the Creek with a Paddle - Mary Boyle Bradley
The story is simple. It is about love, life and hope. After years of battling with the onslaught of her husband's Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Mary stumbled on a little known doctor in New York City, Dr. Bernard Bihari. Many people on the internet claimed that Dr. Bihari knew how to stop every type of MS from progressing. Even better, it was claimed that he could help everyone with an autoimmune disorder, ranging from psoriasis to AIDS. It was claimed that Dr. Bihari could help them with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Eventually, Mary's husband took a leap of faith and put Dr. Bihari's work to the test. LDN worked. It stopped his MS from progressing. Since September 2002, a worldwide campaign has ignited with passionate momentum to get LDN medically recognized as a treatment for MS and all autoimmune disorders. LDN is a cheap, generic, out of patent drug with no known side-effects. Despite the fact that there is no financial incentive to entice any pharmaceutical company to investigate new uses for Naltrexone, the ambition is for LDN to hit the masses and improve the lives of millions. Small scale LDN clinical trials are finally making progress across the globe and are paving the way for a much better future for everyone who suffers from an autoimmune disorder.
The Promise of Low Dose Naltrexone Therapy
Potential Benefits in Cancer, Autoimmune, Neurological and Infectious Disorders - by Elaine A. Moore, Samantha Wilkinson, Yash Pal Agrawal (Foreword by)
Naltrexone is an opiate antagonist drug developed in the 1970s and approved by the FDA in 1984 as a safe and effective treatment for opiate and drug abuse. When used at much lower doses in an off-label protocol referred to as low dose naltrexone (LDN), the drug has been shown to halt disease progression in Crohn's disease and certain cancers, including pancreatic cancer, and to reduce symptoms in multiple sclerosis and autism. While ongoing clinical trials are evaluating the use of LDN in treating fibromyalgia and HIV/AIDS, it has been shown to improve numerous autoimmune and neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Grounded in available clinical and scientific research, this book describes the history of naltrexone, including its potential therapeutic uses, its effects on the immune system, and its pharmacological properties. Aiming to acquaint readers with the potential therapeutic benefits of LDN, the book also includes practical chapters for those interested in its use, focusing on such topics as how the drug is administered, information on fillers and compounding pharmacies, lists of doctors who prescribe LDN, and available patient resources. It also features interviews with LDN patients and several of the country's top LDN researchers, who describe the importance of LDN in terms of its ability to provide relief from pain, halt disease progression, and facilitate the body's ability to heal. Finally, the work includes a useful glossary and an appendix listing important clinical trials completed to date, complete with researcher contact information and a summary of the trial outcomes.

Google LDN ! by Joseph Wouk
Diagnosed with Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis, Joseph Wouk refuses to accept the doctor's opinion that there is nothing more to be done for his medical condition. He plans to go to the Amazon to try to cure himself with a Shaman's ayahuasca ceremony. Told with humor and honesty, Wouk pulls the reader through his thought processes as he watches his mind dissolve from the subcortical dementia caused by his particular variety of MS. Right before he is scheduled to leave for Peru, all his MS symptoms suddenly disappear from his taking LDN. Google LDN ! is Wouk's attempt at Dana Paramita, the Buddhist version of Christian "good works". You'll laugh and cry through the first part of the book and be inspired by the second part. A man who refuses to give up in the face of insurmountable odds ends up completely healed despite the hopelessness that western medicine tells him he faces.
