MSRC
The aim of MSRC is to act as a one-stop service for anyone affected by MS. Whether it is those with a diagnosis or expecting one, family, friends, employers, work colleagues or professionals in the healthcare field, we aim to provide answers and support that are accurate, informative and appropriate. No subject is ignored and we are totally non-judgemental when it comes to peoples choices.
Individuals are able and encouraged to make decisions appropriate for themselves.
Our open approach to all treatments and therapies is what makes MSRC stand out. We firmly believe in self-help, self-determination and recommend strong patient/professional partnerships with the emphasis on individual needs and priorities.
Our unique nationwide MS Telephone Counselling Service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on freefone number 0800 783 0518. Our own trained volunteer counsellors, each with direct experience of MS themselves, staff this crucial service.
We produce a wide range of 'Choices' leaflets, with more due out later this year and we also publish the bi-monthly magazine, New Pathways, which now reaches people in over 20 countries. Full of useful information and real life stories, this full colour magazine is also recorded onto an audio CD for anyone with visual problems. (A complimentary copy of the magazine can be obtained by contacting us.)
Our comprehensive and award winning website covers all the latest news about Multiple Sclerosis whilst also having pages of general interest items. There is a very lively Message Board and Chat Room, along with humour and information on every aspect of MS.
All our services are free apart from a requested donation, currently £15 a year in the UK, for New Pathways Magazine (should anyone not be able to afford the donation, we will send it free of charge – just contact us).
We always welcome suggestions and input about any aspect of our work.
A crucial part of MSRC is that we do not set the agenda – the people who turn to us for support do that.
